FAQs

What happens when I come to see you?

During the first consultation we will discuss the reason you came; the specific symptoms and what makes them better or worse.  As homeopathy is holistic I will take a full medical history and family medical history.  Other factors will be considered such as your general personality traits (whether you are sensitive for example, what makes you angry/sad etc) as well as food preferences, and how you sleep.  This information will allow me to find an individual tailored remedy what suits you best.

The next consultation, typically 4-6 weeks later are shorter.  I will be interested in understanding any changes in your main symptoms.  Some people find it useful to use a journal to record any changes.

The homeopathic consultation to some is an unusual experience as it is an opportunity to concentrate on yourself for a time. This in itself is therapeutic and is part of the healing process.

Is homeopathy safe for children?

Homeopathy is a non-toxic; non addictive and has no side effects.  Due to this homeopathy is especially safe for pregnant mothers, babies and children, as well as the elderly and those with compromised immunity.

Children tend to respond well to homeopathy more readily as they have a clearer medical history (making the remedy very clear) and they usually have strong energy.  Ailments commonly occurring in infants and children such as cough and colds, fevers, allergies, diarrhoea, vomiting, eczema, asthma, rashes, ear infections, and teething can be effectively and quickly with homeopathic treatment.

How do I take homeopathic remedies?

The remedies will either be given in a pill form or in a liquid form. The remedy is individualised to you, as is the doseage and frequency.

For children the remedy can be crushed between two spoons and administered by mouth or dissolved in a little water.

Can I continue taking my prescription drugs?

Homeopathy can work effectively alongside conventional medicines.  At the first consultation I will take information about any medicines you are taking.  As the homeopathy begins to work you may decide you would like to reduce or stop your medication. I can support you during this time, however this should be done under the guidance of your GP.

How many times will I have to come and see you?

The number of consultations is dependant on the severity and duration of your condition.  In addition to this the remedies have different length of actions.

If you have an acute illness, such as a cough or cold, you should be feel better after one or two remedies.  If you come for a set of symptoms which are more chronic, expect to come for three consultations before a review of the changes.  Some people decide to continue periodical treatment even after their symptoms have disappeared to maintain optimal health.
